Aikido Schools of Ueshiba

Bloomington Aikido is a member dojo of the Aikido Schools of Ueshiba (ASU) association consisting of more than 100 North American Dojos. Established in 1975, the ASU is a formally recognized organization under the Aikido World Headquarters in Tokyo, Japan under the instruction of Mitsugi Saotome Shihan.

The name of the organization reflects its deep commitment to the vision that the founder, Morihei Ueshiba (O Sensei), had for Aikido as transmitted to his direct student Mitsugi Saotome Shihan.

You will become a member of the ASU upon your first (6th kyu) test at a member dojo. (ASU dues are included in the testing fee.) After that, ASU dues are renewed annually through your dojo. ASU membership dues are separate from any other dojo fees or dues and are required for rank promotions in ASU.
